Susan Polgar National Invitational Tournament

Ashley Carter is representing Michigan at the Susan Polgar National Invitational Tournament for Girls. Last year, she tied for third place in the main event as well as in the Puzzle Solving Competition.

Support Former Michigan Junior Chess Player



Gemma Moore, former principal, chess coach, and Michigan chess photographer and her children, Martin, Stacey, and Charde Moore had a positive impact on the Michigan scholastic chess community for all of the years of their involvement. Martin, Stacey and Charde all played for Detroit Renaissance high school in the late nineties and early part of this century while Renaissance finished at the top of the Michigan High School Team chess championships. Martin continued his involvement with Michigan scholastic chess by helping to direct at the team tournaments through his time at University of Michigan. Stacey and Charde actually played in Michigan scholastic events and National tournaments from the time that they were in elementary school through the time that they graduated.
